About Oxford Town Hall

Steeped in history and surrounded by Oxford’s dreamy spires, the magnificent Oxford Town Hall is situated at the heart of this romantic and beautiful city. Full of Victorian splendour, this Oxfordshire wedding venue was opened in 1897 by HRH The Prince of Wales to serve the city and its inhabitants. With many uses since its construction, Oxford Town Hall has been used as a police station, with cells still beneath the Court Room, as well as a hospital during WWI.

Five wonderful rooms at Oxford Town Hall are licensed for civil weddings and partnerships with each unique room adorned with traditional Victorian décor. The jewel in our crown is the Main Hall with its breath-taking ceiling, beautiful balconies and a dancefloor large enough for 500 people to dance the night away. The stage has played host to the Rolling Stones and David Bowie, and saw Nelson Mandela accept his Freedom of the City Award so you really will be in good company here.

For the more intimate, quirky ceremony, why not tie the knot in the Court Room with its traditional fixed bench courtroom seating and gallery above? Then celebrate in style afterwards in The Old Library or Assembly Room, giving your guests a day they’ll never forget. How many people can say they got married in a Victorian Court Room?

The helpful Sales & Events team at Oxford Town Hall have a wealth of knowledge and are on hand with ideas to make your day extra special. We can talk you through the layouts and capacities of each room, which room would work best for your ceremony, which for a reception, even down to the details of where you would enter and how the chairs could be laid out.

This Grade II* listed building has been lovingly maintained and proudly continues its long tradition as a premiere wedding venue in Oxfordshire.

The Grand Oxford Wedding Fair is the perfect place to start planning your wedding. Packed with leading inspirational exhibitors from the Oxford area and beyond, offering services and products covering every aspect of your wedding and those that you might not have considered. Whether you are seeking a highly skilled photographer, a gorgeous cake or just advice, help is on hand.

There are Fashion shows throughout the day on our signature catwalk featuring the latest bridal gowns and often menswear and bridesmaid dresses too. Plus, you can relax and listen to great live music and entertainment.

Knowledgeable staff from Oxford Town Hall will be present to show you around all the different and unique rooms this venue has to offer and to discuss your wedding plans and ideas.
